PT Pertamina Launches Pertamax Green 95: Types of Vehicles and Benefits

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – PT Pertamina (Persero) officially started selling Pertamax Green 95 at 15 gas stations in Jakarta and Surabaya. Pertamina’s newest fuel is sold for IDR 13,500 per liter.

Then what types of vehicles can use Pertamax Green 95?

Main Director of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Riva Siahaan said, basically two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles that use gasoline or petrol, can use Pertamax Green 95.

“This can be two-wheeled or four-wheeled for motorized vehicles that consume gasoline. So, all types of vehicles that consume gasoline can consume Pertamax Green 95,” he said in the Soft Launch of Pertamax Green 95 at MT Haryono Gas Station, Jakarta, Monday (24/7/2023).

Pertamax Green 95 itself is the result of mixing Pertamax with 5 percent Bioethanol (E5). Bioethanol is ethanol or alcoholic compounds derived from plants, and in this case Pertamina uses sugarcane.

Riva said that the launch of the new BBM was carried out after carrying out three stages of tests on vehicles that consumed Pertamax Green 95. The first test was a laboratory test.

Second, the dyno test (dynamometer), which is generally used to measure force, torque or power on a vehicle. Third, the road test, namely the road test of vehicles with Pertamax Green 95 fuel.

This product, which has an octane rating of 95 or RON 95, is also claimed to be able to provide better vehicle acceleration than its predecessor BBM, Pertamax RON 92.

“Consuming 95 RON will keep the vehicle’s engine clean,” said Riva.

On the other hand, Pertamax Green 95 is also believed to be able to support the national target of achieving a new renewable energy (EBT) mix of 31 percent in 2050. As well as supporting the achievement of Indonesia’s net zero emission (NZE) in 2060.

“In principle, this is a good product and we prioritize it, while also being in line with the government’s program to achieve net zero emissions,” he concluded.
