PT KAI Baggage Regulations: Important Information for Train Passengers

PT KAI (Persero) again reminds all prospective passengers who wish to travel by train to bring luggage in accordance with the established regulations. This is important to know so that service users do not have to pay additional fees when carrying baggage.

KAI Public Relations Manager Operational Area (Daop) 1 Jakarta Ixfan Hendriwintoko explained the maximum passenger baggage regulations of 20 kg. This rule has been established for a long time and is important for prospective passengers to know.

“Customers are allowed to bring luggage without additional fees of a maximum of 20 kg with a maximum volume of 100 dm3 with maximum dimensions of 70 x 48 x 30 cm and a maximum of 4 items of baggage,” said Ixfan in a written statement, Saturday (3/2/2024 ).

Ixfan said that customers whose baggage exceeds these provisions will be subject to a duty of IDR 10,000/kg for executive class, IDR 6,000/Kg for business class and IDR 2,000/Kg for economy class.

In addition, customer luggage can be placed on the luggage rack above the seat or placed elsewhere in the train cabin that does not disturb or endanger other customers and that does not cause damage to the train.

“Customers with luggage of more than 200 dm3 (70 x 48 x 60 cm) are not permitted to bring their luggage into the passenger train cabin and are advised to transport their goods using a train expedition service such as KAI Logistik,” he said.

Apart from that, KAI also regulates items that are not allowed to be carried as baggage. These include animals or pets, psychotropic narcotics and other addictive substances, firearms/sharp weapons, flammable/explosive objects, objects that smell foul/fishy or objects that, due to their nature, can disturb/damage the health and disturb the comfort of other passengers.

Apart from that, items which are prohibited by statutory regulations, and other items which, in the opinion of the boarding officer, are not suitable to be carried as baggage due to their condition and size are not suitable to be carried as baggage are also prohibited.
