Psychonauts has a score of 89 on Metacritic, making it one of the highest-rated games of 2021. It is not clear how often the game has been sold, but Double Fines previous record with the first Psychonauts game stands at 1.7 million copies.
Released on August 25, 2021, Psychonauts 2 is a 3D platformer with a story about the mental wellbeing of characters and set in uniquely designed worlds.
Double Fine has struggled in the past to make his creative vision a reality with the money available for an indie studio. After the acquisition by Microsoft in 2019, the budget is no longer a problem, which means that the bosses in Psychonauts 2 were added.
Psychonauts 2 is playable on PC, Playstation 4, Playstation 5 via backwards compatibility, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S and is included with Xbox Game Pass.
