The Central Bohemian Police announced a search for him today and in the evening wrote on the website that the wanted 48-year-old man was found in Prague without signs of life in the afternoon.

The man left by car on Sunday afternoon, saying he was going to work, but he did not return home, said Central Bohemian police spokeswoman Michaela Richterová. “The missing person sent several messages to his wife that sounded like goodbyes, and for this reason there is a reasonable fear for his life and health,” she added.

In the evening, the police said that the wanted psychologist was dead. “Unfortunately, the search for a missing 48-year-old man has come to a sad end. The man was found this afternoon in Prague, unfortunately without signs of life,” the police announced in the evening.

Radek Ptáček was a professor of medical psychology, clinical psychologist and psychotherapist. He worked at the 1st Faculty of Medicine of Charles University or at the University of New York in Prague. He dealt with child psychology, devoted himself to the education of doctors, judges and social workers, published and often appeared in the media.

The government’s representative for human rights, Klára Šimáčková Laurenčíková, said this evening on the X network that Professor Radek Ptáček was a great supporter of important changes in the field of human rights and the protection of especially the most vulnerable part of society.

“He has been my support for many years on the topic of the unacceptability of physical punishment on children. We worked closely together on changes to the care system for vulnerable children. Through his research and public lectures, he was one of the key drivers of necessary changes also in the field of health care and in the segment of guardianship justice. I am grateful to him for many things,” she wrote. According to her, she received the news of his death with great regret and expressed her sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.
