The Mainichi Shimbun reported that the Wakayama District Prosecutor’s Office is reviewing the need for a psychiatric evaluation, judging that the suspect’s “capacity for criminal responsibility” will be an issue in court.
This ability refers to the intellectual state of being able to control oneself and being criminally liable.
Yamagami, who killed former Prime Minister Abe last year, was also indicted six months after the crime was recognized as having the ability to take criminal responsibility as a result of a psychiatric evaluation.
Investigative authorities are paying attention to the fact that Kimura was interested in politics, such as filing a lawsuit due to dissatisfaction with the age limit for voting rights and the deposit system.
As a result of analyzing the computer confiscated from the house, it was confirmed that Kimura had browsed the LDP website before the crime.
The police believe that Kimura committed the crime the next day after seeing Prime Minister Kishida’s campaign schedule at the fish market.
However, it is pointed out that it is difficult to determine political dissatisfaction as the motive for the crime when Kimura is silent.

Investigative authorities are also analyzing the power of the explosives to add charges such as attempted murder.
