NOSChampions League draw Feyenoord
Feyenoord coach Brian Priske speaks of an “interesting” draw for his team. The Danish coach saw, among other things, that Feyenoord can prepare for a duel with his previous employer Sparta Prague.
“It will be a special experience for me to play against them,” Priske said on his club’s website. “For us it can be an advantage that we meet them at home, because I know how special the European nights in Prague can be.”
Playing schedule
On Saturday it will be announced when and in what order PSV and Feyenoord will meet their opponents. The first round is scheduled for Tuesday 17, Wednesday 18 and Thursday 19 September.
After that, all matches will be played on Tuesday and Wednesday, as usual in the Champions League. The last matchday of the main phase is on Wednesday 29 January, when all eighteen matches will start at the same time. The final is on 31 May in Munich.
This is how the new Champions League format works
In the new format of the Champions League, the group stage has been replaced by a competition with 36 teams. The best eight clubs qualify directly for the knockout stage. Numbers 9 to 24 play an intermediate round and numbers 25 to 36 are ready in Europe.
Clubs draw a total of eight opponents, four home games and four away games. The last two games are played after the winter break.
