Jason van Duiven will finish the season at Almere City, the Eindhovens Dagblad reported on Sunday evening. The talented striker extends his contract with PSV and is immediately posted to the PhD candidate from Flevoland.
“Van Duiven is considered a great attacking talent and, according to PSV, he is made of good cloth in several respects,” writes Rik Elfrink. “He is strong, has enormous drive and has the ability to score goals.”
“In the Kitchen Champion Division, Van Duiven has already shown a lot in the past year and a half and became the top scorer of the U23 team. Van Duiven also played in the UEFA Youth League tournament and he also scored for PSV.”
Almere was not the only team that was interested in the eighteen-year-old attacker. RKC Waalwijk also wanted to rent Van Duiven from PSV, but after a conversation with the club management, the choice fell on the team of coach Alex Pastoor.
Almere is doing an impressive job in the Eredivisie this season. The club is playing at the highest level for the first time and is currently in a creditable fourteenth place.
There was already quite a bit of interest in Van Duiven last summer. At the time, NEC and FC Utrecht were interested in the budding top striker, but a deal did not get off the ground.
Van Duiven played a total of 48 matches for Jong PSV. He scored 21 goals and 4 assists. He is still waiting for his debut in the main squad, although the goalkeeper has already been in the first selection several times.
