Mika Godts, promise of Belgian football, had the kind of week that marks the start of a career. At 19, the Louvaniste scored the decisive goal in the Dutch summit between Ajax and PSV (3-2). He then contributed to Ajacide’s great success against Maccabi Tel Aviv (5-0).
Having passed through Anderlecht and Genk, he headed to Amsterdam to complete his training on the last day of the winter transfer window in 2023. A year later, he officially joined the first team a few months after his first appearances. Johnny Heitingathen temporary on the Ajax bench, gave him his first (two) minutes in April. He then takes his place regularly on the bench and makes a few appearances in the game. The season of Lancers is complicated, not really the ideal conditions for launching a youngster. At the same time, Godts continues to make his mark with the U21s in D2. At the end of 2023, he injured his thigh and spent three months in the infirmary.
Once back on his feet, he celebrated his first start in an attacking midfield role behind the striker. It’s March 2023. Godts has settled into the team. He hardly ever comes out anymore. He finished his first season with two assists. Interesting at just 18 years old.
During the summer, Francesco Farioli replaces John van’t Schip on the bench, without slowing down the progress of our compatriot. Godts has played in 19 of Ajax’s 20 games this season. 13 times as a starter.
