PSV is definitive champion of the Eredivisie, AZ is moving towards FC Twente

PSV finally became the champions of the Netherlands on Sunday. It was no longer a question of if, but when the club would be crowned champion. Thanks to a victory over Sparta Rotterdam, the time had come on Sunday. On the same day, AZ moved closer to third place with a victory over competitor FC Twente, which entitles them to participate in the preliminary round of the Champions League. Furthermore, RKC Waalwijk, FC Utrecht and Feyenoord won against Heracles Almelo, Vitesse and PEC Zwolle respectively.

FT | PSV – Sparta Rotterdam (4-2)

PSV managed to become definitive champions of the Netherlands on Sunday by defeating Sparta Rotterdam on their own field. The visitors made it difficult for PSV in the first half, but after the break the Eindhoven team put things in order: 4-2.

RKC Waalwijk did well in the battle for relegation. The Waalwijkers left no stone unturned against Heracles Almelo by winning 0-5. With the victory, Henk Fraser’s team climbs over Excelsior – which will play against NEC tomorrow – to the safe fifteenth place.

FT| FC Utrecht – Vitesse (1-0)

FC Utrecht, which was already assured of a place in the play-offs, played against relegated Vitesse in Stadion Galgenwaard. The Arnhem team could play freely, just like last week. Then Fortuna Sittard was defeated 3-2, but it was not successful again on Sunday. FC Utrecht was too strong with 1-0.

AZ hosted FC Twente on its own field. The Alkmaarders had to win to retain third place in the Eredivisie. The gap to the Tukkers was five points and was reduced on Sunday. Initially, AZ was still behind, but the Alkmaarders fought their way to victory. In this way, FC Twente came within two points, while number five Ajax is now nine points behind.

Feyenoord closed round 32 in the Eredivisie with a home match against PEC Zwolle, which actually didn’t matter anymore. Feyenoord also knew for sure that it would finish in second place. However, they wanted to end the last matches under Arne Slot as well as possible and a convincing step was taken on Sunday. The Rotterdam team were too strong for PEC Zwolle with 5-0.
