PSV concludes rental deal in the Eredivisie: defender makes temporary transfer

Fredrik Oppegard will finish the season at Heracles Almelo, the club and PSV confirm via official channels. Earlier on Monday, the news was reported by Rik Elfrink of the Eindhovens Dagblad. The 21-year-old left back currently has little prospect of playing time at PSV and is therefore rented out for six months to the current number fifteen of the Eredivisie.
The deal is now fully completed. Oppegard’s medical examination revealed no abnormalities, after which the loan was confirmed by both clubs.
At PSV, Mauro Júnior recently returned from a serious knee injury, which means that Peter Bosz now has a lot of choice in the left back position. Sergiño Dest is the first option, while Patrick van Aanholt can also play there.
It will be the Norwegian defender’s second rental period in the Netherlands, after spending half a season for Go Ahead Eagles last year. Oppegard started as a starting player at De Adelaarshorst, but dropped out injured after twelve appearances.
The full-back returned to Eindhoven in the summer of 2023. Oppegard fought for a chance in PSV 1, but ultimately did not become part of the first team.
The defender has played for Jong PSV over the past six months. This season he played twelve league matches in the Kitchen Champion Division, in which he produced two assists.
Oppegard’s contract in Eindhoven runs until mid-2025. He has made a total of eleven appearances in PSV 1.
