PSV Coach Peter Bosz Full of Praise for Team’s Convincing 0-4 Victory Over AZ

Peter Bosz is full of praise for PSV, which won convincingly 0-4 on Sunday against AZ. The coach of the Eindhoven club thought his team achieved an exceptionally high level, especially in the first half hour.

Bosz was asked at the press conference whether he could believe how his team performed in the first half hour in Alkmaar. “Yes, I could believe it, because I see my players playing football more often. But I must say that I also thought the first half hour was of a very high level. The best I have seen this season,” said Bosz.

PSV created chance after chance in the first half hour, which led to goals from Luuk de Jong (penalty), Ismael Saibari and Sergiño Dest. PSV already had the three points after just over fifteen minutes.

Bosz wanted to grab AZ by the throat with his team from the start. “We always want that, especially because AZ played in Europe on Thursday. We played against Arsenal on Tuesday and therefore had two more days of rest. You notice that at this stage of the season.”

After half an hour Bosz saw PSV playing less. “The opponent can get back into the match with just one moment. Suppose they had made 1-3 out of nowhere, then things could have turned out differently. I’m glad we didn’t let it get that far and the match played well after the break.”

Bosz does not understand the call for the dismissal of AZ coach

During the match, the AZ supporters sang several times about the departure of their coach Pascal Jansen. They also waved white handkerchiefs. Peter Bosz doesn’t understand that. “What kind of nonsense is that?” he said.

“If you look at what he has done here, he doesn’t deserve this. They have to sell their best players every year and yet before this match they were third. It is so easy to blame it all on the manager. I have this “I have also experienced this. This is not fun, not for him and certainly not for his family.”

‘Didn’t steal a win’

After the break, De Jong set the final score at 0-4 with a striking header. PSV also won its sixteenth Eredivisie match since the start of the competition. The Eindhoven team therefore needs one more win to set the record of seventeen consecutive victories since the start of the Eredivisie season.

PSV succeeded in the 1987/1988 season under coach Guus Hiddink. PSV equals the record when it beats Excelsior at home on January 13. “I’ve been hearing the boys talking about it since last week. I don’t think we stole a game in that series,” Bosz said.

“We had a difficult time against Vitesse (1-3 win) in the first half and also against Ajax (5-2 win), but we convincingly turned that around in those matches after the break. Furthermore, I think all our victories are justified. “
