Jakarta –
PSSI plans to take legal action to obtain the identity of the scorer who aired on Mata Najwa.
PSSI Referee Committee Chairman Ahmad Riyadh | declared the plan following the discovery of the case score setting in the Indonesian football competition in the program Mata Najwa, on Wednesday (3/11/2021).
In the program entitled ‘PSSI Can What Volume 6: Again and Again’, the referee who uses the pseudonym Mr. Y admitted that the practice of match-fixing also occurred in Liga 1 2021-2022.
At that time, Najwa Sihab asked about the involvement of referees in this year’s competition league. “That’s right, right, Ms. Of the 10 weeks of League 1 matches where the referee played? For this year’s competition we played twice. What is clear is that the practice is the same,” said Mr Y in the video footage.
Responding to that, Ahmad Riyadh said: PSSI will take steps and legal efforts to obtain the identity of the scorer.
“PSSI will take appropriate steps and legal efforts to obtain data on a match official who claims to be in the Mata Najwa program for fixing scores or accepting bribes related to his duties. Legal steps are both civil and criminal,” Riyadh told reporters. detikSport, Friday (5/11/2021).
According to Riyadh, at this time, his party is still collecting information and evidence as material for filing civil and criminal law against someone in the Mata Najwa program.
“The person is alleged to have confessed that he committed bribery, score setting. It’s clear that people are wrong if they confess like that. Have the principles of journalism been properly implemented in the program? We will test all of that later,” he said.
“We PSSI have an interest in public order, have an interest in getting these data, to dismantle so that our national football is good. If there are people like that, it’s not true. Incidentally, in the Mata Najwa program he confessed and I’m sure there is a recording of everything in his confession on Youtube, where it is, it’s already there,” he added.
There are those who think that PSSI’s civil and criminal legal action is not appropriate because Mata Najwa’s confidentiality of sources is in accordance with the right to refuse in Law No. 40 of 1999 on the press. In the Law on the Press Chapter 1 General Provisions Article 1 point 10 it is stated: The right to refuse is the right of journalists because of their profession to refuse to reveal the names and or other identities of news sources which must be kept secret.
However, it did not dampen PSSI. When asked again whether the lawsuit will be filed against Mata Najwa, Riyadh replied, “Yes, to open the right to refuse in the Press Law. There is a right to refuse, the right to refuse can be opened in court. Yes, that’s what we want to fight for.”
“Yes, later the procedure will go through the press council, or through anything, we will go through everything. Anyway, according to the applicable legal rules, how do we technically can’t explain our steps, later after we take the steps we will release them too. Yes, as soon as possible within these two weeks (regarding the filing of legal remedies).”
He also emphasized that PSSI is definitely ready to take the road to the Press Council and the Court. “Or the police, because hiding the wrong person is also a violation,” Riyadh emphasized.
