PSSI immediately file an official protest to the AFF regarding the alleged elephant football in the match Vietnam U-19 National Team vs Thailand U-19 National Team which took place on the final matchday of Group A AFF U-19 Cup 2022Sunday 10 July 2022. PSSI General Chair, Mochamad Iriawan, admitted that he was greatly disadvantaged by the results of the Vietnam vs Thailand match which ended 1-1.
“We will discuss it first at PSSI. We will convey that we are quite disadvantaged,” said Mochamad Iriawan when met at the Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium, quoting Antara.

PSSI questioned Thailand’s match against Vietnam because both teams were deemed not to have the intention of scoring a goal after the 1-1 score in the match at the Bung Karno Intermediate Stadium.
Both Vietnam and Thailand have both qualified for the semifinals of the 2022 AFF U-19 Cup if the position is even with a goal, such as 1-1, 2-2 and so on. The result automatically creates Indonesian U-19 National Team failed to qualify for the semifinals of the 2022 AFF U-19 Cup, although in another match Shin Tae-yong’s squad won 5-1 over Myanmar.
“We will discuss it internally tomorrow (today). We will play back the match video and analyze it with several parties including the technical director before confirming whether we will file a protest,” continued Mochamad Iriawan.
“We can’t judge whether there is a ‘game’ or not. Later, the AFF Disciplinary Commission will be able to judge. Obviously we were disappointed. They (Thailand and Vietnam-ed) are big countries, the game is just like that,” said the man who is usually called Iwan Bule.
Indonesian U-19 National Team failed to advance to the semifinals AFF U-19 Cup 2022 despite beating Myanmar with a score of 5-1 in the final Group A match at Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium, Bekasi, Sunday 10 July 2022 evening WIB.
The Indonesian U-19 national team failed to make it to the top four because of the last match in Group A, namely Vietnam versus Thailand ended 1-1. The Indonesian U-19 national team lost head-to-head from these two teams.
Thus, the two best Group A teams to seal a place in the semifinals were Vietnam as group winners and Thailand in second place. For the U-19 Indonesian National Team, the last time Garuda Nusantara failed to qualify from the U-19 AFF Cup group stage was in 2016.
