PSSI Chairman Explains Differences in Views with Shin Tae Yong

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

General Chairman PSSI, Mochamad Iriawan, explained that he had evaluated the performance Indonesian National team in the AFF Cup and found differences of opinion with Shin Tae Yong.

Iriawan admits that the evaluation has not been carried out thoroughly because the South Korean coach must immediately go to Bali to monitor the League 1 players who will be included in the next Indonesian national team training camp.

However, Iriawan has received a little explanation regarding the performance of the Indonesian national team in the 2020 AFF Cup. Iriawan also revealed differences in perspectives regarding the culture of the two countries.

“What was clear earlier, was cut off because he was leaving, later I will continue the man -to -man problem between the players who made mistakes that may later be peeled by him.”

“He has an understanding that it’s not okay to reprimand someone in public, even though it’s not. In us, it’s okay if there is a wrong player, it must be conveyed in front of the others so that others know,” said Iriawan.

In addition to discussing the senior team, Iriawan’s conversation with Shin also briefly discussed the U-23 Indonesian National Team. Iriawan hopes that the evaluation will continue and the results will be published.

Iriawan previously stated that evaluation is a routine thing that PSSI does to coaches. The former Metro Jaya Police Chief also emphasized that evaluation does not mean denying Shin’s contract, which expires at the end of 2023.

Shin has already started the work of monitoring Liga 1 players for necessities ahead of the FIFA match day later this month and the 2022 AFF U-23 Cup tournament which takes place in February.
