Jakarta –
Chairman PSSI Erick Thohir take a quick step by conducting a financial audit in the organization. This certainty was obtained after signing with a well-known audit firm, Ernst & Young.
Previously, the problem of financial management in the national football governing body arose after the problem of inconsistency in the awarding of league championship bonuses by the operator PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB).
PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) emphasized that there would be no prizes for the 2022 League 1 champions for PSM Makassar. In fact, from the beginning it was agreed upon before the competition was held. Only in the 2017 season did PT LIB give cash prizes to the competition winners, the rest only got trophies.
Cash prizes are only awarded to individual award winners such as best player, best youth player, best coach and best goal. Besides that, there are also prizes for the fair play team.
Regarding the lack of prizes for PSM, PT LIB as the competition operator had said that the cash prizes had been distributed to the participating clubs in the form of subsidies.
Erick regretted the inconsistency in awarding the league championship bonus by the operator PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB).
Therefore, towards the 2023 season which will start on July 1, his party will ask LIB to conduct an audit and convey publicly about the distribution of compensation from broadcasting rights and sponsors.
Erick immediately signed an agreement with a well-known audit firm, Ernst & Young, to explore plans to carry out a forensic audit of PSSI’s financial records.
“Starting from yesterday’s incident, when there was an inconsistency in awarding league championship prizes, then it was suspected that there was also a lack of clarity in financial management at PSSI, so I immediately signed an MoU with Ernst & Young Indonesia to conduct a forensic audit of PSSI’s financial records. This was done as the main part in cleaning, both PSSI and in the League,” said Erick in his written statement, Friday (21/4/2023).
Erick considered a firm step by carrying out an audit so that financial management, both at PSSI and subsequently at PT LIB, was open, transparent and accountable.
“It is certain that all of us, me, administrators, and football lovers want this crucial financial matter to be open. Moreover, football belongs to the people. We are only assigned to clean up. This audit is needed so that there is clarity and improvement in financial management for all football stakeholders. Indonesia,” he said Erick who is also the Minister of BUMN.
