In the absence of knowing the definitive results, the PSOE of Cuenca will retain the Provincial Council of Cuenca after resisting better than in other provinces the advance of the Popular Party in the municipal elections in the whole of Castilla-La Mancha and in Castilla-La Mancha, where the popular will be able to govern in almost all the provincial capitals except Cuenca.
As regards the larger towns, the PSOE has achieved victory in Tarancón, where Carrizo revalidates the absolute majority. The surprise has been the entry of +Cuenca Now, which will make David Cardeñosa the first councilor of the España Vaciada platform in the town.
Victory also for the PSOE in Quintanar del Rey, Villamayor de Santiago, Iniesta and a clear victory in Motilla del Palancar, where they have gone from five to eight councilors that will allow them to govern with an absolute majority.
The Socialists retain nuclei of the metropolitan area of Cuenca such as Arcas, Chilarón, Villar de Olalla and Fuentenava de Jábaga.
Álvaro Martínez Chana, who has confirmed the victory of the PSOE in Almonacid del Marquesado, is the favorite to return to preside over the Diputación de Cuenca.
The hardest blow for the Socialists has been in San Clemente, which passes into the hands of the Popular Party. Tomás Martínez will be the new sanclementino mayor. The defeat in Casas of Fernando Alonso, which will be governed by the PP, has also hurt.
The popular ones are strong in La Mancha, they retain most of their strongholds: Huete, Horcajo de Santiago, Sisante Las Pedroñeras… They also add El Picazo to their domains. However, they have suffered a setback when Valverde del Júcar lost when Vox disappeared from the map of this town. The PP may also lose Villanueva de la Jara, where the PSOE has been the most voted for and will take over the Mayor’s Office if it obtains the support of the group of voters that has achieved a councilor.
In Mota del Cuervo, the PP has won the elections, but Unidas Podemos could retain the Mayor’s Office if it gets the support of the PSOE.
Ciudadanos, which practically disappears from the municipal map, will continue with the Mayor’s Office of Albendea after winning with great authority.
In Almendros, by obtaining the five councilors in contention, the independent formation PIDA has been devastated and in Beteta Beteta Participa will govern for the first time. Together for Carrascosa de Haro also joins the group of parties outside the PSOE and PP that take power in the province, like Villalba de la Sierra, where Villalba Viva has won. In some of these municipalities there are macro-farm projects that have been able to influence the result.
Finally, TúPatria obtains its first Mayorship of the Province in Paracuellos.
