He PSOE prevails in the 2023 municipal elections in Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo. With 100% of the votes counted, the socialist victory of 2019 is repeated after obtaining seven of the 17 councilors. In this way, Víctor Manuel Pedregosa rises with the final triumph. For its part, the PP adds five; Independent Socialists of Peñarroya (Yes Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo) achieved two; With Andalucía-IU he conquered two; and Vox, one.
The municipality of Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo has experienced one of the most open and uncertain municipalities of its years of democracy. The mayor of the town of Guadiato, José Ignacio Expósito, was running for re-election but not for the PSOE but for Independent Socialists of Peñarroya (Yes Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo).
All this after he lost the PSOE primaries against Víctor Manuel Pedregosa. In addition, from the PSOE and the independents from Expósito, the PP -with José Manuel Medina at the head-, with Andalucía-Izquierda Unida with Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo -with Pedro Ángel Cabrera as the first on the plate- and Vox -with María José Muñoz at the helm-.
In 2019, the polls dictated a victory for the PSOE, which won seven of the 17 councilors of the plenary, governing with a simple minority and with 34.27% of the votes; the PP obtained five, with 26.96% of the supports; UDPñ got four, with 24.09% of the votes; and IU got one, with 9.74%. Podemos was left out with 3.98% of support. UDPñ does not appear on this occasion.
