The governor of the Pskov region, Mikhail Vedernikov, announced the creation of defense and security assistance detachments. People’s volunteers will help protect the Russian border with Latvia and Estonia.
In a special address to the residents of the Pskov region, Vedernikov said that operational defense and security assistance detachments would be created in every municipality of the Pskov region, bordering two NATO member states: Latvia and Estonia.
“Now our task is to do everything so that the Pskov region is ready for any development of events. In this part, we use the experience of the Belgorod region to the maximum. We have been studying it for a long time, – said Mikhail Vedernikov.
The main task of the detachments, according to the head of the region, will be to assist law enforcement agencies in case of possible emergencies.
