TRIBUNJOGJA.COM, SLEMAN – PSS Sleman continues to ramp up preparations ahead of facing hosts PSIS Semarang in the 21st week of Liga 1 2023/2024.
The PSIS Semarang versus PSS Sleman match is scheduled to be held at the Jatidiri Stadium, Semarang on Sunday (3/12/2023).
PSS Sleman coach, Risto Vidakovic, revealed that he wants PSS Sleman to achieve a second consecutive win when they visit the Laskar Mahesa Jenar headquarters.
“The target, we want to be successful and win the match. The goal is clearly to get a better position in the standings,” said Risto, Thursday (30/11/2023).
Even though he has a three-point mission, the coach who was born in Montenegro, 51 years ago, stated that this match would not be easy for the Javanese Super Eagles.
Moreover, PSIS Semarang is currently entrenched at the top of the 2023/2024 Liga 1 standings.
The team made by Gilbert Agius until the 20th week was in fourth place with 34 points, the result of 10 wins, four draws and five losses.
The former Borneo FC Samarinda coach also admitted that he was ready with a strategy to reduce PSIS Semarang’s fast game.
“In my opinion, PSIS is a very strong team with an attacking style of play. Moreover, we know there are many good, experienced players there,” he said.
Even so, he emphasized that his team was also ready to play this weekend’s match.
“However, PSS certainly doesn’t want to lose and is prepared for that,” he continued.
Playing away did not change Coach Risto’s optimism for his players.
He still carries the target of winning in every match played by the Super Elja squad.
PSS Sleman is currently ranked 13th in the standings with 23 points from 5 wins, 8 draws and 7 defeats.
