Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) held a national ground coffee (kopdarnas) in Central Jakarta, Monday (25/9). According to the agenda received by journalists, the event was held at The Ballroom at Djakarta Theater at 18.30 WIB.
PSI Secretary General Isyana Bagoes Oka said that at the event, they would discuss proposals from cadres who wanted them Kaesang Parangep become general chairman.
According to him, since Kaesang officially joined, there have been many aspirations from cadres at the regional level for President Joko Widodo (Jokowi)’s youngest son to lead PSI.
“We will discuss these proposals intensively in Kopdarnas,” said Isyana when contacted, Sunday (24/9).
“Please just wait for recommendations from friends throughout Indonesia,” he added.
The Board of Trustees, DPP, spokespersons and cadres from all over Indonesia are said to be present at Kopdarnas today.
Kaesang officially became a PSI cadre on Saturday (23/9). A number of PSI officials gave symbolic membership cards to Kaesang at President Jokowi’s residence in Solo, Central Java.
Kaesang admitted that he had asked for blessings from his father and older brother, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who currently serves as Mayor of Solo.
“Ask for his blessing, of course. But he must be very busy, right,” he said.
However, Kaesang was reluctant to comment much when asked about his chances of becoming General Chair of PSI after joining. Meanwhile, PSI spokesperson Sigit Widodo said Kaesang would be given an appropriate position in the party.
“Currently Bro Kaesang is still an ordinary cadre and has not held a structural position at PSI. Of course PSI will provide an appropriate position for Bro Kaesang. The position can be anything, we’ll just have to wait for developments,” said Sigit, Sunday.
