PARIS – Footballers of Paris St. Germain, with Milan Škriniar in the starting line-up, won the French Super Cup after beating FC Toulouse 2-0 at their home stadium on Wednesday.
The captain of the Slovak national team won his first trophy in a PSG jersey since his summer transfer from Inter Milan. In the 71st minute, however, he had to leave the field due to an injury. He was replaced by Brazilian Lucas Beraldo, a new acquisition from Sao Paulo.
The Parisians succeeded in the traditional battle between the winner of Ligue 1 and the French Cup for a record twelfth time, the second most successful team, Olympique Lyon, has eight triumphs. Toulouse did not win the Trophée des champions even in the second attempt. The first half already decided their loss. Lee Kang-in opened the scoring in the 3rd minute and Kylian Mbappé scored at the end of the opening 45 minutes.
