Paris Saint Germain eject Barcelona in the last 16 Champions League. PSG qualified for the quarter-finals even though they only drew 1-1 with Barcelona in leg II.
Duel PSG vs Barcelona in the second leg of the Champions League last 16, it was held at the Parc des Princes, Thursday (11/3/2021) in the morning WIB. PSG bagged a 4-1 lead over BArcelona thanks to a win in the first leg.
PSG had the upper hand after opening the scoring in the 30th minute through Kylian Mbappe’s penalty. Barcelona then leveled the score seven minutes later thanks to a Lionel Messi goal.
During injury time, Barcelona had a golden opportunity to turn ahead after receiving a penalty. However, Messi failed to maximize it. The shot is blocked by Keylor Navas.
In the second half, Barcelona, who still had to catch up, appeared dominant. However, the attacks they launched did not lead to goals.
No additional goals were created in the second half. With this result, PSG has the right to qualify for the quarterfinals with a 5-2 aggregate advantage.
The course of the match
Barcelona, who had to catch up, exerted pressure. With his speed, Ousmane Dembele penetrated the PSG defense and fired a bait to attract Lionel Messi. However, Messi’s shot was blocked.
Kylian Mbappe got his first chance in the 16th minute. Starting from a counter attack, Marco Verratti handed the ball to Mbappe who moved on the left side. Mbappe then fired a shot at goal, but it didn’t make it difficult for Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Dembele got a golden opportunity in the 35th minute after receiving the ball from Antoine Griezmann. However, his shot from close range was still able to be secured by Navas.
Goal! Messi! Barcelona equalized in the 37th minute. Messi, who controlled the ball outside the PSG penalty box, then fired hard. The ball is aimed at the top left corner of the goal and can not be reached by Navas.
In the first half injury time, Barcelona got a penalty. The referee pointed to the spot after Kurzawa’s foul on Griezmann.
Messi advanced as executor. However, Messi’s shot failed to become a goal after the ball was blocked by Navas, hit the crossbar and left the field. Score 1-1 closes the first half.
At the start of the second half, not many opportunities were created by the two teams. Barcelona just got a chance in the 61st minute.
Messi got shooting space in front of the PSG goal, but was blocked by Marquinhos. There was chaos in front of the goal, but the PSG defense was able to block the ball.
Navas made another important save in the 69th minute. He reacted swiftly to the right to ward off Sergio Busquets’ header at the near post. Busquets maximizes a cross from the left.
Barcelona continues to exert pressure on the PSG defense. Dembele almost got a chance, but he was unable to reach Jordi Alba’s pass which rolled in front of the goal.
PSG has the opportunity to add a goal in the 90th minute. From the counterattack, Mbappe entered the Barcelona penalty box and opened fire. But the ball still bounced over the goal.
