Paris Saint-Germain has always lured world stars to the Seine with a lavish salary. In the future, however, the club apparently only wants to convince with sporting arguments. The money tap is turned off.

As the Times reports, Qatar Sports Investments has ordered a drastic departure from previous fiscal policies. The PSG owners therefore want to save almost a third of the player salaries. The budget for this has so far been 350 million euros per year.

The superstars Kylian Mbappe (24.83 million euros annual salary), Neymar (31.50 million euros/year) and Lionel Messi (35.40 million euros/year) devour the lion’s share of the budget. Such horrendous sums will soon no longer be paid.

With this decisive action, the owners are responding to the unflattering record loss of €350m from the 2021/22 season, which is making it difficult for the Ligue 1 club to comply with FIFA’s Financial Fair Play.

Lionel Messi and Neymar are said to be on PSG’s strike list

As part of the salary reduction, Paris Saint-Germain is planning the departure of the two megastars Messi and Neymar for the coming summer, according to RMC Sport. According to the report, the club want to build a hungry side around figurehead Mbappe.

Indeed, Neymar has been up for debate several times over the past two years. The PSG management would have liked to sell the Brazilian after a rather mixed performance. Club President Nasser al-Khelaifi (49) reportedly recently met with Chelsea FC owner Todd Boehly (49) to this end.

In the case of Messi, who would leave on a free transfer in the summer, the Parisians are signaling a willingness to extend the employment relationship. After 28 games this season, the world champion has had 33 goals. Due to his strong form, PSG want to keep the Argentine. However, the negotiations are progressing slowly.
