Paris –
Paris Saint Germain handed down a two-week suspension to Lionel Messi. What is the reason?
PSG will punish Messi after the star is considered disciplinary. La Pulga chose to take a vacation to Saudi Arabia, even though the club prohibited it.
PSG players were originally promised two days off, if they could win over Lorient last weekend. But the result turned out to be a loss, so the holiday policy was reportedly cancelled, meaning the squad had to train the next day.
Messi, who is said to have been planning a trip to Saudi Arabia for a long time, ended up staying absent from training. Even though he was banned from leaving, Messi still traveled to Saudi Arabia with his family.
Messi himself is Saudi Arabia’s tourism ambassador, as a result his arrival also ‘works’ for the Middle Eastern country.
Decision Lionel Messi came to Saudi Arabia, it was reported that they received a response Paris Saint Germain with threats of sanctions. The Ligue 1 giant will park the 7 Ballon d’Or owner for the next two weeks.
Not only is he banned from playing, Messi is also not allowed to attend training at the club. Why did PSG ‘dare’ to give Messi, the superstar, such a sanction?
According to several reports, one of which was put forward by RMC, that PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi wants to emphasize that there is no player bigger than the club, including Messi.
“Everything has been considered by the club for what is described as serious misconduct internally,” wrote Arthur Perrot for RMC.
“PSG initiated this classic disciplinary procedure after an employee misconduct/absence without any permission. No further comment will be made from the club.”
“With this decision, PSG is highlighting the new sporting policy that was put in place. A strong decision, with President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi directly responsible, shows that no player is above the institution,” RMC wrote.
CBS journalist Ben Jacobs made the same point. He considered PSG wanted to change the culture of big stars being able to act as they pleased at the club.
“Messi’s suspension is evidence of a change in direction at PSG towards a more disciplined one, and an attempt to change the culture of player power (usually led by star names at PSG),” he wrote.
Decision Paris Saint Germain punishing Messi makes the future of the star in Paris even more complicated. The contract, which expires at the end of the season, will not be renewed Lionel Messiso that Les Parisiens is threatened with losing the owner of the 7 Ballon d’Or.
