PSG star Ángel Di María had to leave the field when the family was subjected to a brutal robbery

When Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) played against Nantes on Sunday night, Argentine Ángel Di María received an eerie message.

According to ESPN the player’s family had been held hostage during what is being described as a brutal robbery.

The club confirms

Get French Football tweeted Sunday night that PSG are confirming the incident. Just before Dí María was replaced, the club’s sporting director, Leonardo Nascimento de Araújo, was observed in the stands while talking on the phone.

The Parisian reports that the sporting director has asked coach Mauricio Pochettino to replace the Argentine player immediately.

PSG’s Brazilian midfielder, Marquinhos, is also said to have had his home robbed during the match.

ESPN writes that the police have launched an investigation into the cases.

– Lost us for energy

This is not the first time Dí María’s home has been robbed. The same thing happened when he played for Manchester United in 2015, and is said to have been one of several reasons why he left the club.

PSG lost the match against the bottom team Nantes 1-2. Pochettino explained after the match that the second half was very marked by the events that took place off the field.

– There are events outside of football that also explain the second round. It’s not an excuse, but it drained us of energy, the coach said.
