Paris St-Germain women’s football team midfielder Aminata Diallo was detained as part of an investigation into the attack on her teammates on 4 November.
The 26-year-old player most recently played in PSG’s 4-0 victory against Real Madrid in the Women’s Champions League match.
After the detention of Diallo, who also wore the national team jersey, it was emphasized that the club was working with the police to “clarify the facts” in a statement.
While the club strongly condemned the “violence that occurred”, it was noted that “all necessary measures have been taken to ensure the health, welfare and safety of the players” since the attack took place.
According to French media reports, one of those attacked, Kheria Hamroui, one of Diallo’s teammates, was dragged out of his vehicle by two masked men and shot in the legs.
Diallo, who played for the French National Team seven times, transferred to PSG in 2016 and played for the team 60 times. Diallo was on loan at Atletico Madrid last season.
