Paris Saint Germain lost the first round of the Champions League semi-final against Borussia Dortmund.
That after Niclas Füllkrug became a hero for the home team.
– We had clear chances that we must not miss, says PSG’s Marcos Aoás Corréa.
French champions three days ago, but on Wednesday night PSG put themselves in a bad position ahead of the Champions League semi-final return.
After 90 minutes and four minutes of added time, Luis Enrique’s men had not had a single ball in the net, which meant a 0-1 defeat for the visitors in white.
– We know we can play much better, we have to take advantage of the chances, says Marcos Aoás Corréa to Canal +.
Double pole hits
It was in the 36th minute that Nico Schlotterbeck put a long and high ball into the center towards Niclas Füllkrug who timed the run perfectly, took the ball down and was then able to finish with his left foot for 1-0 to the home team Dortmund. A lead that the home team could defend throughout the match.
– The match was as we expected, it was even with clear chances in both directions, says Luis Enrique to TV4.
Yes, because after a first half where the visitors did not create anything offensively, the biggest chances came early in the second half. In the 52nd minute, PSG had two shots on the post in the space of just a few seconds. First it was Kylian Mbappé who hit the right post before Achraf Hakimi struck with a shot to the left.
Return on Tuesday
Even after the four additional minutes, PSG would break their goalless streak. Dortmund is thus in a favorable position for semi-final two.
– We have to analyze the match. They are a difficult team to face, but we have to make sure we can go to the final. That is our goal, says Luis Enrique to TV4.
The second leg will be played on May 7 at the Parc des Princes.
