PSG escalation because of Neymar? Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe clash

The constant discussions surrounding Neymar’s future seem to have reached the next level at Paris Saint-Germain. The ongoing speculation is apparently also causing heated debates internally – in the most recent case between Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe.

What Nasser Al-Khelaifi said will probably reverberate for weeks, if not months. In an interview, the Paris Saint-Germain club boss took superstar Neymar to task – and acted quite ruthlessly.

Al-Khelaifi said, among other things, when asked explicitly about a possible departure of the exceptional player from Paris: “A possible departure of Neymar this summer? What I can tell you is that we expect all players to do a lot more than last season.” Neymar is said to have hit these words hard.

Al-Khelaifi’s words, as well as subsequent speculation that PSG want to get rid of Neymar and that the Brazilian celebrity wants to leave the club this summer, have apparently caused controversy within the squad as well.

According to Minuto Deportivo, there was a “short circuit” between Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe. During the odyssey surrounding Mbappe’s extension, rumors are said to have circulated that he would like Neymar out of the squad due to lack of discipline.

Lionel Messi sticks to Neymar

And Messi? Of course, he sticks by his friend Neymar, whom he knows from their time together at FC Barcelona and with whom he is also very good friends privately. A year ago, Neymar is said to have been a good reason why Messi decided to make the surprising move to Paris.

A Neymar transfer this summer isn’t exactly easy anyway. His long-term contract on the Seine runs until 2027. A club would first have to be found that, in addition to the fee, would also take over Neymar’s lucrative salary of around 40 million euros a year.
