PSG confirm huge new contract for Kylian Mbappe after Real Madrid saga is finally over

Kylian Mbappe will remain a PSG player despite huge interest from Real Madrid after signing a new contract with the French side.

It seemed like Mbappe would leave the French capital when his contract expired in the summer. Los Blancos appeared to be his preferred destination but a sudden U-turn has seen the Frenchman agree a new deal with the French champions.

The 23-year-old said after signing the contract: “I am very happy to stay at PSG in France. I’ve always said Paris is my home, I hope we keep playing football and winning trophies together. Thank you for everything.”

However, La Liga is unhappy with recent developments – and has released a statement. “On the possible announcement of Kylian Mbappe to stay at PSG, La Liga would like to explain that this type of agreement threatens the economic stability of European football and endangers hundreds of thousands of jobs and the integrity of the sport, not only in European competitions. but also in the domestic leagues.”

The statement also confirmed that La Liga “will file a complaint against PSG before UEFA, the French administrative court and financial authorities, as well as the European Union authorities”.

Mbappe joined PSG in 2017 after coming on the scene with Monaco the season before.

Since then, the Frenchman has won the World Cup and blossomed into one of the best players in the world. Mbappe was also dominant in Ligue 1 but PSG missed their ultimate goal – the Champions League.

Mbappe has scored 168 goals during his time at PSG, just 23 behind Edinson Cavani, all-time top scorer.

The announcement of Mbappe’s new deal came ahead of PSG’s final game of the season against Metz.

Mbappe started the game in a star-studded line-up that saw the youngster flanked by Lionel Messi, Neymar and Angel Di Maria.
