Like Dembélé this summer, PSG invested a billion euros to build its current collective.
The Football Observatory has published this Wednesday morning his weekly letter in which he evaluates the teams having spent the most on transfer fees to build their current squad. Four clubs stand out at the top of this ranking with investments exceeding one billion euros. Three of them are English: Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City. The fourth is French, Paris St-Germain.
PSG ahead of Stade Rennais and OM
The club from the French capital spent a total of 1,000 million euros, including 557 million euros on attackers, 181 million euros on midfielders, 244 million euros on defenders and the rest on the recruitment of goalkeepers. AS Monaco is second in this ranking, with 364 million euros spent. Stade Rennais completes the podium, with 209 million euros. Olympique de Marseille (197 million euros), OGC Nice (182 million euros) and Olympique Lyonnais (126 million euros) complete the top 5.
€65 million to build the Lorient squad
At the other end of the eleven French teams ranked in the international top 100 of the Football Observatory, stands FC Lorient, with 65 million euros invested. The authors of the study specify that the amounts given include possible bonuses and the sums paid for loans.
