The Social Democratic Women’s Organization of Sibiu marked, on October 1, the World Day against breast cancer.
In the discussions they had with the ladies from Sibiu, the social-democratic women urged them to pay more attention to their own health, instructing them to go for periodic medical check-ups.
The first weapon in the fight against breast cancer is education. Prevention is essential, and early detection of the disease increases the chances of cure. The Romanian government is running a National Breast Cancer Screening Program, funded by European funds, but there are also programs supported by non-governmental organizations, associations and foundations that support women in Romania.
In the fight against cancer, we need courage, strength and solidarity, which we must find in the community. “Together, we are stronger!”. This was the message of the information campaign carried out by the Social Democratic Women’s Organization Sibiu.
“The campaign aims to raise awareness about breast cancer. Early detection means a chance for a new life with the family. Show that you care about yourself and your family! Be strong! Be pink! Be healthy!”, says Laura Barac, president of the PSD Sibiu Municipal Organization. Pink is the color of the fight against breast cancer.
