Luís Montenegro requested journalists Hugo Cadete and Inês Gonçalves from RTP. O CM You know that the PSD leader intends to count, from January onwards, on the contribution of these two professionals in the campaign for the legislative elections that will take place on March 10th. Interestingly, in recent times, both have been involved in lawsuits against RTP’s administration and Information department.
Inês Gonçalves was the target of a disciplinary process with a view to dismissal for presenting the gala for the 110th anniversary of the Porto Football Association, broadcast by Porto Canal. The case was filed in March, but the outcome only fueled the controversy. The public station ignored the Workers’ Commission’s (CT) requests for archiving and proceeded with a reprimand “related to the professional’s omissive conduct”.
A few weeks earlier, the journalist accused RTP management of moral harassment. A criminal complaint is also underway against the company’s current administrators. Hugo Cadete was suspended on October 19, 2022, accused of having “stared” at his superior Hélder Silva, an attitude that the RTP Information department described it as being “provocative, hostile, intimidating, threatening and aggressive”. After more than six months at home, he was sanctioned by RTP with loss of salary and seniority, and a three-day suspension. Hugo Cadete has been working at Antena 1 for the last few months, but the processes remain unresolved. The journalist won in the 1st Instance and in the Court of Appeal, despite this, RTP appealed to the Supreme Court of Justice against a decision that confirmed a delay in his career equivalent to approximately 30 years and compensation of around 100 thousand euros.
