On June 10, PSA Retail France notified the Competition Authority of its intention to acquire the business of the Opel brand in the Lyon area, currently held by the company Atlantic Automobiles (Groupe Vulcain).
Atlantic Automobiles is present on 3 sites (Lyon Vaise, Vénissieux and Caluire) but the Retail subsidiary of the Stellantis group will only take over the Vénissieux site and will use its real estate footprint in the city to redeploy Opel. It has Peugeot and Citroën sites in Vaulx-en-Velin, Ecully, Vénissieux and Rillieux la Pape for PSA Retail, and Fiat, Alfa, Jeep sites in Lyon and Vénissieux for FCA Motor Village.
For the time being, PSA Retail has only started to deploy Opel in the Paris region, at its Peugeot and Citroën sites in Paris (15th), Trappes and Bois-Colombes.
Second Opel distributor by volume in 2019, with more than 2,900 VN sold, the Vulcain group should also separate from its Opel dealership in Paris 17th. The group’s website already indicates in its history the “closure of the Parisian plate” in 2020. The site is however still in activity (even if it is difficult to reach by phone) and awaiting a possible recovery, which does not seem to be moving towards PSA Retail. On the other hand, the group sold its Kia concession in Villejuif (94) to the Chapat group last February.
