Suara.com – CEO PlayStation Jim Ryan confirmed that the PlayStation 5 (PS5) will have 99 percent compatibility with all games PS4, but unfortunately the new generation console will not support PS1, PS2, or PS3 games.

In an interview with Famitsu, Ryan said the PS5 development team did not have enough time to implement backwards compatibility for the older console generation.

“PS4 already has 100 million players. We think they also want PS4 games on PS5, so we made it compatible with PS4,” said Ryan.

There’s a reason why the PS5 supports PS4 games. According to principal system architect Mark Cerny, the two consoles are built on a similar internal structure, making it possible to play PS4 games on the PS5.

Reporting from Gamespot on Saturday (19/9/2020), Sony recently also revealed the PlayStation Plus Collection which includes first and third party titles, such as Days Gone, God of War, Persona 5, and Resident Evil 7. PS Plus customers on the PlayStation 5 get access to these and other classic PS4 titles at no additional cost.

The Digital and Standard Editions of the PlayStation 5 will launch on November 12 at different prices. The PS5 Digital costs 400 US dollars (around Rp. 5.9 million) and the standard edition is 500 US dollars or about and Rp 7.4 million.
