Although we still have to wait a few days in Europe for the release of the PlayStation 5, the new console from Sony was already released in a few countries this week. In practice, the launch of new hardware is almost always accompanied by some problems and that is now also the case with the PS5.
Several users have reported an annoying download bug. For example, several employees have IGN It is bothered by it and more people on Twitter and Reddit also report that they run into the bug. The bug causes users to get a “Queued for Download” message when downloading games, but a download does not actually start.
There is no option for those experiencing this problem to restart the download. At the moment there seems to be one solution, namely a full factory reset of the PlayStation 5. That is of course not pleasant, because then you will lose everything that is installed on your console.
This download bug does not seem to occur with one specific game. There are many reports that the bug occurs when downloading Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, but other users experience the same when downloading Demon’s Souls, Spider-Man Remastered or Sackboy: A Big Adventure, among others.
All in all, this is a persistent bug that can only be solved with a major fix. Sony has not yet commented on the issue. Let’s hope it gets fixed soon, maybe even before the PlayStation 5 comes out here next Thursday.
