The just-concluded Gamescom 2024 trade fair in Cologne brought some exciting news. As it turns out, some developers confirmed the existence of the PS5 Pro console and even said something about the difference in performance between the standard model and the Pro.
PlayStaton 5 Pro is already provided
As many as two independent sources claim that the developers have found out PS5 Pro Specifications. One of them is the Italian website Multiplayer, which reported that one of the studios (no specific name was mentioned) sent the first impression of his game due to the release of PS5 Pro and the need for optimization.
The second source is the portal Wccftech, which spoke to another studio on the same topic and the contact admitted that it is the biggest the performance difference will be noticeable in games created with Unreal Engine 5. However, it is not certain whether the upgraded version of PlayStation 5 would be released this fall, during the American holiday season.
What we know about PS5 Pro
So far, several suggestions regarding the performance of PS5 have been made from various sources, a the console would provide a 45% performance jump. thanks to a larger GPU and faster memory, up to 2-3x higher average ray tracing performance. In addition, PS5 Pro own hardware solution (PSSR) for graphics scaling using machine learning similar to temporal anti-aliasing techniques.
The above reports, while encouraging, should be treated with caution. We have not received official confirmation from Sony yet. Historically, the company announced the PS4 Pro on September 7, 2016, and the product was sold on November 10, 2016. Let’s see if history repeats itself here.
