O the more powerful model of the PlayStation 5 console spoke Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming already in March of this year. Now an as yet unconfirmed console PS5 Pro he mentions again saying that it is 100% in development and in the next few months it will first prototypes of dev kits they are supposed to get into the hands of developers within PlayStation Studios, and third-party studios will also receive them by the end of the year.
Henderson reiterated that Sony is aiming for the end of 2024 with the PS5 Pro, but unfortunately he didn’t reveal any other details. However, a previously published patent by PlayStation architect Mark Cerne suggests an improvement in ray tracing performance. As with the PS4 and PS4 Pro, we can generally expect the PS5 Pro to offer better resolution in games, more stable/better performance and possibly better graphics quality.

As for the next generation, yes there’s plenty of time for PS6 and it looks like 2027, possibly 2028. In the meantime, there should be other toys: a PS5 with a removable Blu-ray drive, which will replace the existing two models (with a drive and a digital edition), a handheld for playing games via Remote Play, and a new PS5 headset.
Sony recently boasted about the success of the PlayStation 5. It was in stores 38.4 million units shipped. By the end of March 2024, the company wants to get another 25 million units to customers.
