The PS5 The jailbreak was broken using the mod, thus exposing new backends.
Today, October 3, designer Lance MacDonald posted the tweet that you can see directly below, revealing that the PS5 console has finally been successfully jailbroken. From the tweet text and video watermark, it sure looks like McDonald himself opened the console.
A video of McDonald’s accessing the rear menus is shown on a broken PS5 console. Thanks to the hack, it can open a special “Patch Menu” option in the console’s main menu systems, giving access to a number of additional options that users would not normally be able to see.
McDonald’s debug menu has many options, including settings for games, controllers, users, PlayStation Network, and more. The McDonald’s video also uses the patch menu options to download and install the missing PT demo, an introduction to the deleted Silent Hills project by Hideo Kojima.
It’s a great find, but it’s definitely still in its infancy for the PS5 community. McDonald’s various responses to responses under the original tweet suggest that more needs to be done now to prevent system problems, such as the ability to import save data for games like PT. PS5 Pro appears on stage.
