The technical director of the racing game WRC Generations recalled that Xbox Series X has a more powerful chip, generating 12 teraflops, and on paper it surpasses PS5, which offers 10.28 teraflops.
But in reality, Benoît Jacquier admits that thanks to the PS5’s higher GPU clock speed (2.23 GHz compared to the XSX’s 1.825), Sony’s hardware has an advantage that allows developers to offer better performance:
“With its higher clock speed, the PS5 gives us direct and simpler performance advantages over the previous generation. While the raw performance of the Xbox Series X GPU is higher, it is more difficult to use – better parallelism is needed to use 52 CUs. But I believe that in the long run, developers will be able to get better performance on Xbox Series X.”
