PS5 does not support 1440p output: Sony confirms

Despite the statements from BenQ, which in recent days invited you to consider buying a QHD monitor to pair with PlayStation 5, today we found that the next generation console from Sony it will not support 1440p resolution.

This was confirmed by the Japanese giant himself, who in an email sent to our editorial staff clearly specified that PS5 non supporta l’output a 1440p (QHD). The clarification goes in partial contradiction with when stated by BenQ, even if at the moment it is not clear how PlayStation 5 behaves when it is attached to a monitor with that specific resolution: the output is automatically set to 1080p, or the signal is downscaled. at 1440p from 4K resolution? Some monitors are capable of this type of downscaling (maybe even the BenQ ones), but we can only ascertain this with field tests. Of course, at the moment, we know that PS5 does not support native 1440p output.

PlayStation 5, we recall, will be launched in two different models – the basic version and the Digital Edition – on November 19th. Today’s news is in contrast to the much more positive statements of yesterday, with which Sony confirmed the presence of HDMI 2.1 cable in the PS5 package.
