PS5 controller: Sony presents new DualSense controller

Bit by bit, new details about the Playstation 5 come to light. Now Sony has launched its new wireless game controller for the console.

In a blog post, the company describes the concept behind the so-called DualSense controller. The name says it all: The Japanese want to give the player a kind of touch. Unlike before, the controller should not only vibrate, but also master a much larger range of haptic feedback. For example, the player should be able to feel the difference whether a vehicle is driving over a bumpy track or crossing mud.

Controls such as levers should also adapt to the game. For example, the player feels more resistance when cocking an arrow.

The DualSense controller also has built-in microphones, so players without headsets can use the Playstation-Chat can communicate with each other. The “Share” button is now called “Create”, but is still used to record and upload screenshots and game scenes.

The press photos reveal another interesting detail: According to this, the wireless controller is apparently charged via USB-C. The predecessor, the DualShock 4, also had a micro USB socket.
