By launching its Switch in 2017, Nintendo has achieved a master stroke, come back to the fore and steal large market shares from the competition. But this launch window was not anodyne since the firm was thus positioned against Sony and Microsoft.
Big N was able to take advantage of this release in the middle of the eighth generation of consoles, but things could now get complicated. His two rivals will indeed draw their new foals at the end of the year, which could logically impact sales of the Switch. However, in a recent speech reserved for investors, Shuntaro Furukawa, president of Nintendo, was not worried. According to him, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X should not upset their business since they are not intended for the same audience.
We will present our predictions for the next fiscal year in a dedicated announcement, but I think there will certainly be a change in the environment since the new products of our competitors will appear (…) We do not believe that the business trends of other companies will have a significant impact on our business.
