On Boxing Day, the PS Karlsruhe Lions finally received the gifts they had hoped for. After the bitter defeat the day before Christmas Eve at the Knights Kirchheim, the second division basketball team won 84:67 at the Giants Düsseldorf on Tuesday evening.

The exhausting game in Kirchheim was still clearly in the Lions’ bones in the first quarter. Although the guests were as good on defense as usual, they clearly left too much at the other end of the field: only five of 17 attempts found their way into the basket.

PSK professional Adam Seiko strong from a distance

After all: Adam Seiko made it 18:18 after ten minutes with a buzzer beater far behind the three-point line.

In the second quarter it was a back and forth affair full of errors on both sides. Karlsruhe initially lacked an organizing hand without O’Showen Williams. The alpha animal of the “Charles Pack” suffered a shoulder injury in the final phase of the home win against Bayreuth.

PSK Lions turn up the heat after the break

Meanwhile, Seiko stepped into the breach and played a key role in the Lions taking a 39:34 lead into the break. Because Karlsruhe came out of the locker room very strong, a one-sided game developed after the break.

Different than on Saturday. The evening against Kirchheim was pretty dramatic from Karlsruhe’s perspective. Two seconds before the end, Kirchheim’s Michael Flowers sank an extremely wild three-pointer into the basket – and gave the Lions a bitter Christmas Eve. The Knights won 77:74. Particularly bitter: In the meantime, Baden were in the lead in the derby with 15 points.

In Düsseldorf, however, coach Aleksandar Scepanovic’s team left no stone unturned: the guests led 68:49 after 30 minutes. In the final quarter it was largely an exhibition game.

The Lions continue on January 3rd at 7:30 p.m. against Phoenix Hagen. Then again in the Lina Radke Hall.
