Proximus supports eSIM for business users – Tablets and telephones – News

Telcos fear esim because it only makes it easier to switch providers.

Muah …. I don’t believe that. Maybe it was 10 years ago, but it is getting less and less.
Because let’s face it, what is the main reason for switching providers? Roaming of course!
In your home country, you are not going to change providers daily / weekly. You have 1 main subscription, maybe a work subscription and very much maybe a 3rd subscription for calling to foreign destinations. Even if you have a cheap Lebara eSIM for calling abroad, who would like to continuously turn off the eSIM? (Well, I don’t hear, and I have such a third subscription that is only for calling abroad and after switching twice you are fed up.)

You used to have that you went abroad and then the foreign SIM would appear. Now that is really not the case in Europe anymore. Roaming is already free, and calling abroad (so from NL / BE to EU countries) has also become a lot cheaper last year. (Thanks EU!)
There is almost no reason anymore to switch with abbos too continuously.

I also see “eSIMs” as an OPPORTUNITY for providers. For example, you can now arrive at the airport in Miami, turn on the WiFi and buy an eSIM with unlimited data for $ 50 via the T-Mobile Prepaid eSIM app within 15 minutes.
If our European providers were to offer that too, they could earn a lot of money with it.
