The Government of the Provincial Council of Toledo has opened a call addressed to the town councils to deliver 1,000 euros to the parents of babies born in the province, during the year 2024, in municipalities at risk of extreme or intense depopulation. A measure that aims to establish population, revitalize local economies and preserve the culture, traditions and heritage of local entities.
The vice president and deputy of Social Welfare, Family and Youth, Daniel Arias, highlighted: «We intend to help promote birth rates, promoting the well-being of families, and allowing them to reconcile work and family life. To do this, we will subsidize the expenses for the care and maintenance of the born or adopted child for a maximum amount of 1,000 euros.
The subsidized expenses will have to be made between two months before birth and up to six months of age. Expenses for daycare, hiring the child’s caregiver, pharmaceutical products for baby care and materials such as a stroller, bathtub, crib and high chair may be justified. The subsidy payment will be paid to families 50% as an advance and the rest when the expense is justified.
Exceptionally, for vulnerable families without employment and with low income, the food required by the newborn or adopted child will be subsidized.
The requirements are: firstly, at least one of the parents must be registered in the locality one year before the birth or adoption and continue until the completion of the process (payment of the subsidy); and secondly, the newborn or adopted child must be registered in the municipality.
These aid will be granted directly until the credit is exhausted and families must request it at the town halls of their municipalities. The deadline to request this aid is now open and will end on January 15, 2025.
The 76 municipalities of the province included in areas at risk of depopulation, intense depopulation or extreme depopulation classified by the Board will benefit from the measure.
