Provinces with storm warning this Sunday in Andalusia

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has activated the yellow warning for rain and storms in Almería, Granada and Jaén for this Sunday, and has also declared a yellow alert for heat in the province of Jaén, Córdoba, Huelva and Seville, with highs of up to 40 degrees.

According to information published on the Aemet website, consulted by Europa Press, the yellow risk for rain and storms will prevail from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. in the Almanzora Valley and Los Vélez in Almería, Guadix and Baza in Granada, and Cazorla and Segura in Jaén. In these areas, a cumulative rainfall of 25 millimetres in one hour is expected, while in the Cazorla and Segura region, an accumulation of 15 millimetres in one hour is expected.

As for heat, the yellow warning will be in effect from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for the countryside of Cordoba and Seville, as well as in the province of Jaén in Morena and Condado and the Guadalquivir Valley. Temperatures are expected to reach 39 degrees in these areas, although locally they could reach 40 degrees. This alert will also be activated in Huelva in the Andévalo and Condado region, where temperatures could reach 38 degrees.

At the regional level in Andalusia, Aemet has indicated that temperatures will not register changes or will increase, except in the eastern extreme, where the maximums will decrease. As for the skies, these will be partly cloudywith intervals of low clouds and morning mist on the Mediterranean coast and the Strait.

Likewise, daytime cloudiness may cause showers and thunderstorms in the eastern interior, which will be more likely and intense during the afternoon and in the mountains in the northeast of the community, where they will be locally strong and occasionally accompanied by hail. In addition, suspended dust with probable mud deposits is expected to accompany the precipitation.

Finally, the easterly winds will be weak and variable, increasing in intensity to moderate on the Almería coast, while the southwesterly winds will be weak to moderate on the Atlantic side.
