Province refuses permission for Zottegem’s new cultural hall

The province of East Flanders has rejected the application from the city of Zottegem for an environmental permit for Accu, the new cultural hall on the Sanitation site.

It is the department’s sound expert who gave negative advice. Although it is outdated, it can still be read on the website of the city of Zottegems (see the link,) that the construction of Accu will start in 2024, which could be used in 2027 in that case. An outdated position as the project has since been shelved beyond the elections. Now that the permit application from the city of Zottegem has also been rejected, a new start and end date for the construction work is being calculated. The city of Zottegem has until December 18 (see the link) to appeal the decision to the Flemish government. It is also possible to submit a new application.

During the public inquiry into the permit application, 12 objections were lodged, but these were rejected. Read through this connection the full incentive for the province to refuse the permit.
