Providing Cash Assistance for Rental Housing to Conflict-Affected Communities in Ukraine

As part of the project “Providing emergency winterization assistance to conflict-affected communities and supporting communities in liberated territories,” residents of some regions will be able to receive cash assistance to rent housing for internally displaced persons.

Previously, we told you how to get food packages for free.

The project was made possible thanks to the Czech humanitarian organization “People in Need” with financial support from the Humanitarian Fund for Ukraine.

The program was created to improve the living conditions of IDP households from regions of the country affected by Russian aggression.

Cash assistance helps cover monthly rent and utilities for 6 months.

IDP households that plan to move to new housing will receive additional payments in the amount of UAH 5,000 (can be used for expenses related to finding housing, moving, etc.).

Who can receive the new cash assistance?

The project to provide financial support for rental housing is designed for displaced people who are located in the following regions of Ukraine: Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Vinnytsia and Zhytomyr.

Households of up to 3 people affected by Russian aggression, who have IDP status and belong to the following categories of the population, can receive financial assistance within the framework of this project:

those living in communities located in areas of active hostilities or located in temporarily occupied territory who are under threat of eviction from their place of compact residence (where they live) who are threatened with eviction from their current housing

living in unsatisfactory conditions: the living area per household member is less than 7.5 m2, there are no sanitary conditions, heating, water supply, etc.

Priority will be given to the following households (but will not be limited):

with 3 or more children under 18 years of age with only one guardian or parent with pregnant women with breastfeeding women receiving documented unaccompanied children including people with limited mobility, people with chronic diseases and existing disabilities whose housing has been partially or completely damaged due to the Russian aggression after 02/24/2022

Those households that receive or have already received financial support for rental housing from the organization “People in Need” and other organizations after 02/24/2022 can take part in the project.

But in this case, they will not have priority in selection for the program.

How to get financial assistance?

To receive financial assistance, you must fill out an application for participation. link and send or give personally to a humanitarian organization worker up to and including December 10, 2023.

The response will be sent to the phone number you provided within 30 days after the registration period expires.

If a positive decision is made on your request, you will need to do the following: upon request, provide documents identifying you and other household members, including documents confirming vulnerability, etc. in case of moving to a new home, you need to rent housing within the relevant area within 14 days, inspect the future place of residence together with a specialist from the organization, provide a signed rental agreement for a period of 6 months, and conclude an agreement on the provision of financial charitable assistance with the organization.
