Providing Breast Prostheses and Surgeries for Breast Cancer Survivors through SLP Donations

Ruth González Silva, honorary president of the State System for the Comprehensive Development of the Family (DIF), has prioritized collaboration to support women survivors of breast cancer, for which she participated, together with the Alma Foundation, the Services of State Health and the College of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery, in the delivery of 18 external prostheses and vouchers to perform six breast reconstruction surgeries.

These actions, he said, seek to help “rebuild the lives of women” who faced this health problem and recover their self-esteem and security, acquiring a better quality of life.

“On behalf of all the women who will benefit, I thank the Alma Foundation, the College of Plastic Surgery, the State DIF and above all Ruth. Thank you very much for supporting the integral health of women because it is not only about surviving, but about having a full inclusion in society”, mentioned one of the beneficiaries.

In the message addressed to the attendees, the head of the State DIF commented that it is important to remember that breast cancer only affects women, but also their families and loved ones.

Therefore, he reaffirmed that it is “very essential to support our mothers, wives, sisters, daughters and friends in their fight against this disease.”

After giving recognition to representatives of the Alma Foundation and the College of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery, for their valuable work, the head of the State DIF toured the hospital facilities to bring a message of encouragement to the patients who were prepared to medical intervention, motivating them to continue in their fight.
