Provides SSM to women early detection of breast cancer

Morelia, Michoacán, March 7, 2021.- As part of the permanent strategy to reduce mortality from breast cancer among women, mobile mastgraphers from the Ministry of Health of Michoacán (SSM) travel to remote and hard-to-reach communities.

These units will be from March 8 to 12 in Jacona, Senguio, Angamacutiro, Queréndaro, Erongarícuaro, Tafetán and Tangamandapio, as well as in the towns of La Presa, municipality of Álvaro Obregón; Santa Fe, belonging to Quiroga; Cereso, municipality of Morelia, and Agua Caliente, municipality of Angamacutiro, so that women from 40 to 69 years old can come to receive the free service.

Mammography is the most effective way to detect and diagnose breast cancer in a timely manner, according to the age of each woman. The three basic detection actions are: self-examination from 20 years of age, clinical examination from 25 to 39 years of age, and mammography from 40 to 69 years of age, emphasizing those women who have risk factors.

These factors are being overweight or obese, being over 40 years old (the older the higher the risk), a history of breast cancer in the mother or sisters, having had another disease in the breasts, having been a mother after the age of 30, having menstruation before 12 years, presented the last menstruation after 52 years to name a few.
